Students have to take a minimum of 5 and maximum 14 subjects which must include the 3 compulsory subjects of English, Science and Math. Students who pass 7 subjects stand to gain an International Certificate of Education or ICE.
The students have to choose a subject depending on his interest and career goal. If a student is not sure about his career interest then he makes choices depending on his interest. Universities will only consider top grades and the overall performance attained through the IGCSE course and not the quantity of subjects.
Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and can include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades, A* to G. Cambridge
The IGCSE board examinations are held in May-June and the results are announced online in the 2nd week of August every year, with the print copies of results available in the School by the 3rd week of August. The certificates are issued mid-October.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) are globally recognized educational programs. IB is a rigorous pre-university program for students aged 16-19, while IGCSE is an internationally accepted qualification for students aged 14-16.
Students enrolled in IB or IGCSE programs who seek additional support in understanding course material, improving grades, and preparing for exams can benefit from tutoring. Tutoring can also help students develop effective study habits and time management skills.
IB and IGCSE tutoring covers a wide range of subjects, including:
IB tutoring focuses on the depth and complexity of the subjects, with an emphasis on critical thinking, independent research, and internal assessments like the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). IGCSE tutoring, on the other hand, focuses on mastering foundational concepts and preparing for standardized exams through practice and repetition.
When choosing a tutor, consider their qualifications, experience with the IB or IGCSE curriculum, teaching style, and ability to provide personalized attention. It's also helpful to read reviews or get recommendations from other students.
One-on-one tutoring offers personalized attention, tailored lesson plans, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to focus on specific areas of difficulty. It also allows for immediate feedback and a customized pace of learning.
Tutoring can help with exam preparation by providing practice exams, reviewing past papers, teaching test-taking strategies, and focusing on key concepts likely to be tested. Tutors can also help students manage exam stress and time effectively during the exam.
In a tutoring session, you can expect personalized instruction based on your needs, review of difficult topics, practice problems, exam strategies, and homework help. Tutors may also provide resources like study guides and practice tests.
The frequency of tutoring sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Some students may benefit from weekly sessions, while others might need more intensive support closer to exams. It's best to discuss your requirements with your tutor to create a suitable schedule.
