ACT
The ACT is a standardized test widely used for Undergrad College admissions in the United States and top colleges in other countries. The test is conducted by ACT incorporation; American Testing Company is the full form of this US based non-profit organization. The purpose of the ACT test is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
Since September 2018, ACT is a computer based test. ACT had designed the computer based test such that students do not have much difference in taking the test as computer based rather than paper pencil test. Online tools such as Highlighter, Line Reader, Magnifier, Answer masking and Answer Elimination are much useful for the students, particularly for questions based on passages and graphs. Within the test, students can move around. Navigation bar helps to pick the question which they like to do.
The ACT assesses the following skills:
The total duration of the ACT excluding breaks is 2 hours 55 minutes without Essay and 2 hours 35 minutes with Essay.

The ACT (American College Testing) is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It assesses students' academic readiness for college.
The ACT includes four mandatory sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. There is also an optional Writing (essay) section.
Each of the four sections is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. The composite score is the average of these four sections. The optional Writing section is scored separately on a scale of 2 to 12.
It's recommended to start preparing at least 3-6 months before your test date. This allows ample time to cover all topics, take practice tests, and identify areas for improvement.
A "good" ACT score varies by college and program. Generally, a score of 21 is the national average. Competitive colleges often look for scores in the range of 28-32 or higher.
You can take the ACT up to 12 times. Most students take the test 2-3 times to improve their scores.
You can register for the ACT online at the official ACT website (act.org). You'll need to create an account, choose a test date and location, and pay the registration fee.
The registration fee for the ACT without the Writing section is around $60. With the Writing section, it is approximately $85. Fee waivers are available for eligible students.
Consistent practice, taking timed practice tests, focusing on weak areas, and using official ACT prep materials are some of the best strategies. Joining a test prep course or working with a tutor can also be beneficial.
Official ACT practice tests and study materials can be found on the ACT website. There are also many other resources available, such as prep books, online courses, and mobile apps.
The ACT test is 2 hours and 55 minutes long without the Writing section, and 3 hours and 35 minutes long with the Writing section.
Yes, you can use a calculator on the Mathematics section of the ACT. However, there are specific guidelines on the types of calculators allowed. Make sure to check the official ACT calculator policy.
On test day, bring your admission ticket, a valid photo ID, an approved calculator, pencils, and an eraser. It's also a good idea to bring a watch and snacks for the break.
Multiple-choice scores are typically available online 2-8 weeks after the test date. Writing scores are usually available a bit later.
You can send your ACT scores to colleges when you register for the test or after you receive your scores. There is a fee for sending scores to colleges after the initial registration.
